HAUT DEFI was born when two brothers, Frederic and Francois-Xavier Bleau, wanted to share with the world their mountaineering experiences in some of the richest, natural environments. It is an honest testament to their travels along challenging rock-lined ridges and their difficult ascents of some of the most satisfying summit climbs. Each logged expedition has been carried out by the Bleau Brothers along with others who share their same passion and respect for the environment, like their friend and fellow mountaineer Sebastien Duceppe.
From high peaks to open crevasses, the Bleau Brothers believe that the beauty of this world is laden in the natural environment and strive to share this beauty with the rest of the world.
Along with the exciting accounts of their adventures found on this site, the Bleau brothers also take pride in sharing their experiences with local mountain communities. It is important to them to propagate these interactions so others can gain a better understanding of how different communities have intimate links with their natural environment. With this cultural knowledge, one gains a greater respect for each site and, in turn, can be environmentally and culturally responsible as a potential visitor.
This site is constantly evolving and is being continually updated. During each expedition, the Bleau brothers write frequent logs that paint a practical and emotional portrait of their challenging journeys so their friends, family and fellow adventures can follow along. There is also information on this site to help those who are thirsty to carry out similar adventures (most of which are often much more accessible than one would think).
